Exam Instructions

Audio not working on the video I created so you will just have to read the instructions instead.

Today you are going to use MS Word to create a web page. To do this following the instructions below:

1. open Word
2. Click on the Office Button
3. Click on Save As - save as: Web Page
4. save in your P drive
5. file name must be: Smith Web Page (Smith is replaced by your last name)
6. make sure you save the file again each time you close

Your web page MUST contain the following:

1. a banner at the top with your name
2. a bulleted list describing the steps you follow when adding an RSS feed to your blog
3. a hyperlink to your personal blog
4. at least one graphic (must follow Creative Commons license rules)
5. numbered list detailing Creative Commons license rules in your own words)
6. a short description about you

After completing your web page then send it to me in an email as an attachment. Subject line: Smith Web Page.

Make sure that you do not have any spelling mistakes, grammar or punctuation mistakes.

You can view your web page simply by opening it.

Please comment on this blog posting by adding your email address. We will be using the addresses to share our career presentations. You MUST do this by the end of the period on Thursday.

You are also to use Google to find 3 blogs that relate to the career that you created your presentation on. You are to search in the Google Blogs search. You can do this by clicking on the MORE buttons to show all of the Google products. Then search ONLY in the blogs. Use advanced search to narrow down your focus. You are then to follow the blogs. Next you are to post the blog URL's here by the end of the period.

Career PowerPoint

ROLE: You are a recruiter for a specific company. Your job is to visit high schools and try to convince students that the career you are representing might just be for them!

ACTION: Convince people to consider your career!

FORMAT: You will be creating a slide show about this career in Microsoft PowerPoint.

TOPIC: This project will increase your awareness about careers you might be interested in, and will also help you become aware of other careers as you watch your classmates' shows.

CONTINUE BY CREATING A SLIDE SHOW TO SHOW THE CLASS:
• Create a new presentation or use a template.
• Choose a slide layout.
• Apply a design template (the pretty background) from the format menu if you did not use a template (alternative: you can use a background from the Internet).
• Create your title slide (this is not included in the slide minimum) by typing in your title.
• Create new slides.
• Add your wording to these slides. Pressing tab makes the words indent and get smaller. Pressing Shift+Tab together takes you back to the left side, with large words.
• Add pictures to these slides by choosing Pictures from the insert menu. Change to the drive and directory you have pictures in.
• Add a movie for extra credit the same way.
• Add transitions between slides by choosing Slide Transitions from the Tools menu. All slides must have transitions.
• Add animation to your text and graphics (again, from the tools menu). Each slide must have animated text.

Remember to save frequently, view your presentation often, and have fun!

Your presentation MUST be at least 15 slides. Think about things that you can tell other students to convince them to choose a certain career. You should include working conditions, salary, educational requirements, etc.
You must also have the following:

1+ graphic per slide

Words/text must move (text animation) one item at a time

Transitions between every slide

3 to 5 groups of words (bulleted items) per slide

Go to all of the products of Google. (Hint: click on the MORE and then EVEN MORE buttons).

Seach for blogs related to the Jing product. Use advanced search if necessary to narrow your focus to ONLY blogs related to the Jing product.

Now that we have our distracted driving survey results put into a spreadsheet let's take a look at the results.

Did the results of question 1 surprize you? Why or why not.

Compare and contrast the results of question 1 with your prediction of question 1.

After seeing the results of question 1 I wonder how our school compares to other schools or teen responses.

Examine the data found at the attached link. Look specifically at the various tables of data. Can you make any assumptions when you compare our survey results against the results found in these tables? Give specific answers and examples.

As you know we are working on a PSA about distracted driving. I thought it would be great to predict the results of our survey. Remember we have approximately 1900 students at BHS.

Predict the results of the following question:

Do you drive? Yes or No
If you drive, do text and drive? Yes or No
If you drive, do you talk on the phone while driving?
If you don't drive, have you been a passenger and the driver was texting? Yes or No
If you don't drive, have you been a passenger and the driver was talking on the phone? Yes or No
