Pearl Harbor Comments and Reflection

What is your impression of the Pearl Harbor research you conducted as part of your project?

What was the most moving and significant aspect of the attack for you? And why?

Could the technology tools that we have today, prevented, or at least made the results of the attack less severe? How? and what tools?

Did any of you discover that you had a relative at Pearl Harbor?

In what way has technology made it easier for us to 'see' history?

  1. It was easy to find research on the Pearl Harbor. My impression was that it was a sad time.

The most moving and significant aspect of the attack was how many people lost their lives.

Yes we have better radar now and we would have known they were coming and would have ben prepared.

No I did not discover that I have any relatives.

We can look it up on the comupter and get to it a lot faster. We can watch videos on it.

  2. 1.My imperession that the research we had to find was very easy because it was such a big event in history.
    2. The most moving part of the attack was realizing that so many people died in the attack, and that there was a warning coming but that it came to late.
    3. I think so, if we had the internet or maybe even the telephone someone could have contacted us earlier, and maybe warned us and we would have been more prepared.
    4. I do not have a relative that was in the attack of Pearl Harbor.
    5. Intstead of having to go to the library and having to look up a book, now we can easily just go on the internet and see everything from the past.

  3. My impression of this Pearl Harbor project was, it was kind of hard to find all of the informatiopn I needed. I didn't think it would have taken 3 days, more like 1.
Probable the most significant part of the attack was seeing how many people lost their lives. It was scary to think they never say it coming.
Yes, the technology would have at least made the attack less severe. We could have used satelites and radar to see that Japanese planes and ships were coming and we could have been prepared.
I have no idea if I had a family member at Pearl Harbor.
Today's technology has made it a whole lot eaiser to 'see' history, becuase we have so many resources we have to use.

  4. 1.My impression is very depressing to read some of the things I did while I was researching to know that this actually happened.

2.The Most moving thing was that 1,000's of people died and we new it was going to happen.

3.Yes, because we would have been able to predict the attack better than what we did and the weaponary would have been alot better to.

    4. No I did not have a relative in Pearl Haror but my Grandpa and Grandma lived in Hawii for a while and they were there when it happened.

    5. Because we have all these computers and things it has made it easier to learn more because we can dig deep to find what we want.

  5. I thought that reading about the Pearl Harbor attack was very sad to hear what happend to all the people who lost there lifes. The most moving significant about the attack was that the japanese started the war.possible the technology now could have prevented the war. no i did not have a relative at pearl harbor.

  6. 1.My impression of the Pearl Harbor research I conducted as part of my project is that it was a terrible thing to happen, even some pictures that I see give me chills up my spine because they are so depressing, scary, and make me think how terrible that must have been.
2.The most moving and signifigant aspect of the attack for me is that we could've avoided this if we had been ready, and that makes me mad that they sneak attacked us.
3.Yes, the technology we have today definitley could have made it be easier to detect when Japan was coming, which could've prevented the bombing, maybe a radar could tell us if planes or ships that are not ours are getting near.
4.No, I have no relatives at Pearl Harbor.
5.We have the tools to see very old pictures, and we know how and where to find old artifacts.

  7. My impression is that it was easy to find the research. The most moving and significant aspect of the attack for me was how the Japanese intentionally bombed a lot of American ships and in the process killed hundreds of innocent people. I think todays tools would have made the attack a lot more servere but probably would have killed less people. This is because the missils and bombs that can be used today are a lot more focused in and can litterally find their targets. this would have resulted in the sinking of more ships at Pearl Harbor, but it also would have kept them from killing so many innocent people. I do not know any of my relatives that were at Pearl Harbor. Technology has made it easier to see what really happened in history not what we have been told by people who want us to see it another way.

  8. - Pearl Harbor was probably one of the worst attacks on the USA ever. I thought that it was terrible what Japan did
-I saw the movie so with what was on the movie I thought that the dogfight at the end was the best part because one of the pilots is like 17 and he is really good.
-Yes, the technology that we have today is what they though would never come during WWII, they could have been able to call them or text, or email them and they would have been ready
-I dont think that i have a relative that was involved in Real Harbor
-If we didnt have the technology we had today we wouldnt be able to get as much information because you can see stuff that was posted in Japan and get it here in Michigan

  9. 1.My Impression is that the research was really easy to find.
2.The most moving aspect of the attack was that peoplem were trapped in the USS Arizona while it sank. Its sad that all those people died.
3.Yes, we would have more guns and technology that canshoot the planes down. We might have been able to see them comeing because we have radar.
4.I have people in my family that were alive when Pearl Harbor happened, but none of them were at Peal Harbor.
5.Technology has made it easier to see history because people can put information online and we can reasd it. There are many sources to get information from.

  10. It wasn't hard to find the information. I find it sad that many people lost their lives. No I don't think that our technology today could have stopped it, however with the vehicles we have I think we could have got their faster. No I didn't find that I have a relative at pearl harbor. We can use the internet as opposed to libraries.

  11. 1.My impression of the pearl Harbor project was that the Japenese did bad things to the U.S. and lost there trust
    2. The most moving thing for me, was that many people died that died just to protect Pearl Harbor
    3. Yes I think with better tools, the U.S. could of been better prepared and fought of better
    4.No
5.Yes,technology has made it easier to see history, like to look stuff up and reserch it

  12. 1. I think that this was a good project to teach me about history and its events.
    2. The significant aspect for me that moved me, was realizing all of the innocent people that died, like kids and hardworking adults.
    3. I think that the technology that we have today could of prevented the attack, because now we have better machines for translating communications.
    4. I did not have a relative at Pearl Harbor.
    5. Cameras have taken pictures of the event, so we can get a visual view of what really happened on that day. This helps me get a full understanding of what happened to Pearl Harbor.

  13. From our project, I learned that the Pearl Harbor attack was much more catastrophic than I had originally thought. It was easy to find information, because there are so many sites out there hoping to teach more about Pearl Harbor. The most moving part of Pearl Harbor is how valiantly our soldiers fought, although the odds were against them. They were sleeping when the attack started and Japan had the upper hand because no one was on the Anti-Aircraft cannons. I believe that today’s technology definitely would have prevented these events. Some of the tools that would have helped would be UAV’s and better radar because we would have seen the attack coming from much farther away. Although I did not have a relative at Pearl Harbor, I’m sure that some did and after learning more I feel really sympathetic toward them. With technology, we can see the past easier because pictures can be sent and posted online so others can see, and information can also be spread easier. Also, we can see videos from survivors today relaying their experiences to us.

  14. My first impression on the project was sad because it was a day that over 2,000 people died. The first aspect is why Japan would bomb the U.S for no reason,it was a dumb idea because it brought one of the best military forces in the world into World war two. Yes, there was so information that the planes were spotted on a radar but they were called B-17 fighter planes because there were planed to arrive around the time they were spotted on the radar. The radar today would have traked if it was an enemy plane or friendly so america could have been better prepared for the attack. No I did not have a relative in Pearl Harbor. Technology has help see the past by puttting info online for others to see.

  15. 1. There was alot of information so the facts were all really easy to find

    2. USS Arizona, all the men that were on board died and they still have never recovered there bodies.

    3. I don't really know. Im sure they have some kind of wepon they didnt have back then that would of helped.

    4. I thought I did, but i dont.

    5. You can get all the facts and things about it from the internet, and if they find something new all they have to do is update a page online.

  16. -After researching the attack on Pearl Harbor, I understand the enormity of the day. It's beyond belief that we lost so many people in this one attack.
    - When I think of how we were caught off guard, it makes me mad. It just means that The Japanese weren't a strong enough force to take us on without the advantage of a surprise.
-I believe the tools and technology we have today could have fully prevented this attack. Now today we have tools that will tell us of approaching boats and higher grade or scopes to see fart her and see who was coming. Also our weapons are stronger than the attack on Pearl Harbor.
-None of my family members were in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
    - Today we can see history in our own homes. Any time we want we can go online and look up "Attack on Pearl Harbor" and read all about it. Also with modern search engines we can look up pictures too that before wouldn't have been able to be shown to everyone.

  17. 1) My first impression of the Pearl Harbor project was that there was so much stuff that I never even knew about it. To be honest, I didn't even know that the Pearl Harbor got bombed.... Haha. Most of the information was pretty easy to find, but it did take a lot of research.

    2) The most moving and significant part of the attack for me was that so many people died, and it was a total devastation for the US. We lost so many people and ships to that bombing. Also, there was no warning. So noone was even expecting it.

    3) Yes, I think that if we had the technology that we have today it would've been such a bigger impact on preventing it. We would have computers and telephones for communication. Also, tracking devices. Satellites, just stuff like that.

    4) I don't really know if I have a relative that was at Pearl Harbor.

    5) The internet practically offers everything. Online books, articles, and just everything that gives us such a more broad range of research and places to look. It's so much faster, and all's you have to do is type the question that your looking for.

  18. My Impression on the Pearl Harbor project we did was, that it was not a happy time.

The most moving and significant aspect of the attack was how many people were injured, and how many lost there lives.

Yes, i think today our tools would have made it less severe because a lot of our tools were upgraded with higher quality and we now have a bigger army, marines, ect. more and more people are joining, so i think we would have had more will to fight.

I don't think i have any relatives that were in Pearl Harbor, but my Grandpa was in World War 2, and it said Pearl Harbor led to that, so if that counts.

We can look up 'history' on the computer and watch videos, which are much faster than they were back then.

  19. -As I was researching my project on Pearl Harbor I realized how emotinal that day was for anybody that was there. Before this Project I had no idea at what had actually happened.
    - The most moving part of this attack was how many people died because i had not realized how many people were either injured/ hurt that day and the most significant part was that our government was able to recover from this attack.
-I think that our technology today would have helped us be more prepared because we could have used tools like radar to be able to tell if there are any ships or planes close to our country.
-No, none of my relatives have ever been to Pearl Harbor.
-Technology has made it eaiser for us to look back and learn about history because we can go on the internet and find out almost anything we want to from any search engine.

  20. • It was relatively easy to find information about Pearl Harbor, it was kind of sad reading all the facts about it though.
    • There were rumors that the government already knew there was a possibility of this attack but they did not act on this knowledge so, needlessly, a lot of people died.
    • I doubt it, maybe if had had the use of stronger metals but all in all, I do not think technology we have today would have made a difference.
    • No
    • We can make more real looking graphics that give us an idea of how bad the bombing was.

  21. What is your impression of the Pearl Harbor research you conducted as part of your project?

I feel that it was a dishonor to our country and will be remember as such.

What was the most moving and significant aspect of the attack for you? And why?

all the deaths that they caused us because it really tells you how bad it was.

Could the technology tools that we have today, prevented, or at least made the results of the attack less severe? How? and what tools?

yes because we could of detected them earlier. the radar.

Did any of you discover that you had a relative at Pearl Harbor?

    no i did not.

In what way has technology made it easier for us to 'see' history?

it has gone in a positive direction to increase or knowlegde.

  22. 1.When doing the Pearl Harbor research, I got the impression that because it was so easily found, it was such an important and shocking event in history.

2.On one website about the USS Arizona, it said that the battleship was most remembered because of the way it sunk, and up until that point, the United States lost 1,177 lives. After reading this article, I realized that the attack on Pearl Harbor was much more terrifying than I had found it before.

3.Our society has become more advanced than it was 60 years ago; therefore, I think that the attack may still have happened but with less severity. For example, airplanes and war technology. Over the last few years, airplanes and war technology have evolved because of how modern our society has become. I think that having these types of tools may have helped because the attack was unexpected and outnumbered.

4.As of right now, I do not know of anyone who served in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

5.The technologies we have discovered today are the results of mistakes we have made in the past. We create technology and advance in it to not only make things easier but to solve problems that may appear in the future.

  23. The Pearl Harbor reseach I conducted really opened my eyes about the whole experience. I never thought that our country could be taken that much off guard, and it was so deadly. The attack lasted almost a whole day, and there was an unreal amount of deaths.

The most moving aspect of the attack for me would have to be the aftermath. You never could even imagine seeing all the damage and dead people after the attack. Almost all of their boats and submarines were destroyed or highly damaged, and lots of people had casulaties or even deaths.

The technology tools we have today could've easily helped to stop this attack earlier. It would've been able to be detected so much earlier because of all of our different technology such as the internet and celluar phones.

I did not discover that I had any relatives in Pearl Harbor

Technology makes it easier to "see" history because in the older days we never even had the internet or history books about Pearl Harbor and now there is more than a million results that pop up on Google, each giving different information about the attack.

  24. I was depressed from the Pearl Harbor research that I did, because it was such a catastrophic time.

The most moving aspect for me is the loss. This is because so many people were injured and killed; the devestation.

Yes, I think that with todays technology we could have prevented it. We have a lot more technology now, such as the internet, and certain detection devices.

No, I did not have a family member at Pearl Harbor that I know of.

Technology has made us able to see history, because now, using the computer and the internet, we can see graphs and chart about history. Also, some scientists have even been able to recreate the faces of famous ancient people; such as Cleopatra.
